We created Snugsee because we wanted children’s sunglasses that did more than simply look good. They needed to offer serious UV protection, stay comfortably in place during everyday adventures and provide greater coverage around little eyes.
For children affected by hay fever, allergies, light sensitivity or easily irritated eyes, we wanted to create something that sat closer to the face compared to standard fashion sunglasses.
The result is a range of colourful, flexible wraparound sunglasses designed specifically for kids.
Why wraparound sunglasses for children?
Children spend a lot of time outdoors, and protecting their eyes from ultraviolet radiation is just as important as protecting their skin.
Cancer Council Australia recommends close-fitting, wraparound sunglasses as part of sun protection because the shape helps reduce UV reaching the eyes from around the sides of the frame. In New Zealand, SunSmart similarly recommends close-fitting wraparound sunglasses that comply with the Australian/New Zealand sunglass standard.
That wider coverage is one of the reasons every Snugsee frame has a wraparound design rather than a conventional fashion-sunglasses shape.
Our sunglasses feature UV400 Category 3 lenses, providing high everyday sun and glare protection, with polarised and REVO lens options also available across the range.
Meet our Snug Fit sunglasses
For children who need even closer coverage, we created Snug Fit.
Snug Fit adds soft Snug Shield cushioning around the frame, helping the sunglasses sit closer to the face while remaining comfortable and ventilated.
The closer fit creates more of a physical barrier around the eyes from things like wind, dust, sand and airborne pollen.
This can make Snug Fit particularly useful for children whose eyes become uncomfortable outdoors during pollen season, or those who are sensitive to bright sunlight and glare.
Sunglasses aren’t a treatment for hay fever or allergies, but reducing the amount of pollen reaching the eye area can be helpful. Australian health guidance recommends wearing sunglasses outdoors to help protect the eyes from pollen, while New Zealand guidance specifically recommends wraparound sunglasses to help stop pollen getting into the eyes.
That makes Snug Fit a practical option for parents searching for kids hay fever sunglasses, pollen sunglasses or wraparound sunglasses for sensitive eyes, without making children feel as though they are wearing medical eyewear.
